Motor Voltage Drop Calculation

This Excel spreadsheet provides a template for calculating voltage drop and selecting the appropriate cable size for a motor or electrical load. It includes input fields for load details, cable properties, installation factors and environmental conditions. The results will calculate voltage drop, minimum number of cable runs needed, and verify if the selected cable is properly sized.

This program calculates voltage drop caused by the starting of motors at the substation transformer primary and secondary leads. Primary system impedance and transformer impedance is taken into account. Secondary conductor impedance is not. Calculator allows use of a autotransformer reduced voltage starter and provides calculations based on tap setting.

The Voltage Drop Snapshot
This method examines the effect of voltage dip during motor-starting is to ensure the maximum instantaneous drop that occurs leaves bus voltages at acceptable levels throughout the system.
