Street light poles payback period calculation in excel

Calculate No of Street Light Poles _ Payback Period

Calculate No of Street Light Poles ~ Payback Period

The Spreadsheet provides instructions for calculating three aspects of street lighting design: (1) the distance between light poles based on road width, pole height, luminaire wattage and other factors, (2) the wattage of individual street light luminaires based on road width, distance between poles, and required illumination levels, and (3) the total required power for a given street lighting area based on the required illumination level, luminous efficacy, and area to be illuminated. Examples are given for each calculation.

Lighting Design Guidance – Global Designing Cities Initiative
The spacing between two light poles should be roughly 2.5–3 times the height of the pole. Shorter light poles should be installed at closer intervals.

Required Streetlight Watt = (Lux per Sq. Meter X Surface Area of Street Light) / Lumen per Watt.
Required Streetlight Watt = (6 X 1) / 20.
Required Streetlight Watt = 0.3 watt per Square Meter.

Steel: Steel poles typically have a lifespan ranging from 20 to 50 years. Proper maintenance, including regular inspections and corrosion protection measures, can help extend their lifespan. Aluminum: Aluminum poles have a similar lifespan to steel poles, ranging from 20 to 50 years.
